Turning Preventive Care Into Peace Of Mind
Angela*, an Aetna Better Health of Illinois member, had ongoing women’s health concerns that required timely attention but felt overwhelming to manage on her own. During a home visit in early 2026, Angela shared her worries and uncertainty about preventive screenings and next steps for her health with her case manager, Holly*.
Holly took time to listen and provide education and reassurance, drawing from recent training on women’s gynecological cancers. Through these conversations, Angela gained a clearer understanding of the importance of preventive care and felt supported in moving forward. With guidance and encouragement, she completed a cervical screening, mammogram, and colonoscopy, all confirmed in her medical records. These screenings led to the discovery of a condition that required further treatment, and she is now scheduled for a hysterectomy with providers she trusts.
